GREAT SINGAPORE SALE IS NOW ON!!!

“SHOP TILL YOU DROP”… This is a common phrase you will hear in Singapore. Singapore is a shopper’s paradise ranging from luxury goods to bargain electronics, and undoubtedly you will find plenty to pack into your suitcase. The most looked out event by both locals and travellers is the “Great Singapore Sale”. This is usually held for a period of two months in the middle of the year with great discounts for many items. The main shopping district is the fame Orchard Road area. However Singapore is not just limited to one shopping area. Besides Orchard Road, Bugis, Vivo, there are still many other places where one can get good shopping done. Especially if you love to be unique!

Ethnic Zones & Markets

Chinatown - A great place for all the Singapore souvenirs you can get for the folks back home, which are extremely affordable. You can also find antiques and handicrafts in Chinatown Point. There is also an array of stalls lining the streets selling everything from food and fashion to handicrafts, art and antiques and are often more popular in the evenings.

Sungei Road Thieve’s Market - One of the oldest flea markets where thieves used to sell stolen wares, the market is now lined up with curios and vintage goods. Take a good look at the merchandise available, and you may be able to find a really good antique or vintage buy.

Little India - Be prepared for an overpowering of the senses from the smell of jasmine garland and spices to the colourful silk saris and the sparkling of gold jewellery. Little India also houses Mustafa Centre, a 24-hour shopping mall selling a wide array of products from clothes to electronics, at one of the lowest fixed price shops in Singapore.

Kampong Glam & Geylang Serai - Once the seat of Malay royalty and the designated Malay-Muslim enclave from the early 1800s, Kampong Glam now offers a trove of hidden delights ranging from the silk batik or sarong to a wonderful array of beautiful jewellery.

There’s no doubt about it that I love to go shopping (or issit thrifting??) in these places. Who knows the exact reason why I love it but to me it’s finding awesome things for dirt cheap! These places have cheap and full of treasures just waiting for me!!

Lend A Helping Hand..

If you have read the news, you would have heard about the cyclones in Myanmar and the earthquake in China Si Chuan Province which has already taken away more than 120,000 and 14,000 people respectively. I read the papers every day and cry for those victims. It pains my heart to see images of the children who died. It was a very grief news for anyone to hear about, and to see how these natural disasters have swept away the homes of thousands and killed the loved ones of many others.

Therefore, I urge anyone who read this entry to pray with me for these victims of such dreadful disasters. There are still many trapped in the ruins in Si Chuan and if the rescue teams were able to remove the ruins in time, there are still hopes for them to be saved! Same goes to Myanmar where it is heavily lacking in clean water and food and other necessities right now. More could be suffering from all sorts of diseases if there is still not enough clean water delivered to them.

Alice.K, is doing our part to raise funds by donating 50% of your purchase to the Singapore Red Cross from 17 May 08 till end of this month. For more information, visit SRC.

The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) has also received a total of S$600,000 through cash and cheque donations for the Sichuan quake victims.

The amount includes a single donation of S$300,000 by a man who had dropped off the cash at the SRC Society.

SRC has ordered S$200,000 worth of Ready—to—Eat food packs and these will be delivered to the Red Cross Society of China, directly from the supplier’s factory in Dalian.

The funds collected will also be used for relief operations, as well as reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts.

They need our help and prayers too! Pray for the victims as well as the rescue team so many could still be saved in time!

May God bless the people in China and Myanmar.

Wide Turtle Neck Dress

This chic dress has a unique standing collar; wide turtleneck that hangs loosely around the neck. Approximately 8" ruffled/pleated trim at bottom hem, giving it a nice swing while walking. Great for work with black-and-white spectator pumps, and works just as well for the weekend with your favorite flats. Comes with a matching belt.

Sundresses

A sexy sundress with stunning accents that gets every eye on you. Thin drawstring spaghetti straps lead to a square neckline that stands out with rouching under the bust. Rouching flatters the figure; instantly 'enhance' your bust size.
